WORKING PAPER ON THE DESIGN OF THE WAGENINGEN F-SERIES
The Wageningen F-series Joint Industry Project (JIP) provides a new standard series of fixed-pitch propellers that encompasses the design features of contemporary propellers. The new series were designed for best achievable efficiency, while simultaneously taking into account requirements on cavitation, noise and vibrations. The need for the series results from the growing awareness of safety, ecological and comfort aspects in ship design, and the increasing electrification of ship propulsion systems.
This working paper elaborates on the design process of the Wageningen F-series. Currently the 150 F-series propeller models are being manufactured and tested in all four quadrants in MARIN’s DT facility. For more information see www.marin.nl/jips/wageningen-f-series
